Dolans Pub has been shortlisted as finalists in the Best Entertainment Bar in this year’s Bar of the Year awards 2019.
From over 500 entries across Ireland, the judges selected the Limerick venue in its shortlist of outstanding bars.
Now in their 15th year, the Bar of the Year Awards celebrate all that is great about Irish pubs, clubs and bars and showcase the high standards of the Licensed Trade across the country.
All shortlisted premises are eligible for the Southern Comfort People’s Choice Awards, voted for by the public. Voting will be carried out provincially in Dublin, Leinster, Munster, Connacht/Ulster with the winners of each province announced on the night. From this, the coveted overall National Southern Comfort People’s Choice winner will be chosen.
Winners will be revealed at a gala awards ceremony on Monday, 19th August in the Clayton Hotel Burlington Road, Dublin, hosted by Newstalk’s Tom Dunne.
Speaking after receiving news of the shortlist, Mick Dolan said: “To be recognised by in the Best Entertainment Bar category at this year’s Bar of the Year Awards is both an honour and a testament to the hard work that is put in by all our team at Dolans every year.
We take huge pride in contributing to Limerick’s music and cultural scene. To be shortlisted recognises what we do on a national level”.
Dolans have been no strangers when it comes to awards over recent years. The pub successfully won two awards at the Irish Pubs Global Awards in the Best Entertainment Pub in the Global category and the Best Entertainment Experience in Ireland award.
They won the Pure Magazine Best Venue award in 2017 and were also the recipients of the Irish Pub Awards Best Music Pub for the South West region. In 2015 Dolan’s were also the overall winners of the IMRO Live Music Venue of the Year awards.
Established in December 1994 by Mick and Valerie Dolan, Dolan’s Pub on the Dock Road in Limerick was created with the mission of promoting local and national traditional music acts.
Dolan’s Warehouse was opened in 1998 seeing the creation of a venue with a capacity of 380 people and one that has become recognised as a key destination on the Irish music touring scene and has hosted many Irish and international acts over the past 20 years.
