Dolans Presents are delighted to announce that platinum selling singer-songwriter James Vincent McMorrow will play Limerick’s Live at the Big Top venue on April 22nd 2022.
The Dublin-born artist will play his Limerick gig as part of an extensive UK and European headline tour for 2021.
A platinum-selling artist, McMorrow independently clocked up over 750 million streams, reached number 1 in the Irish charts, and seen his music travel everywhere from Drake's 'Views' to 'Game of Thrones'.
His new single ‘I Should Go’ acts as a further window into the world of James' upcoming fifth studio album Grapefruit Season.
McMorrow's debut album, Early in the Morning, was released in Ireland in February 2010, and in the United States and Europe in 2011, to widespread acclaim. He made his UK television debut on BBC 2’s Later with Jools Holland on 27 May 2011. He played with Lisa Hannigan on 8 December 2011 at Dublin's Button Factory for the Choice Music Prize event.
He co-wrote the song "Shells of Silver" with electronic group The Japanese Popstars, and his vocals are featured. The song is featured in CW teen drama Gossip Girl.
He released his second album, Post Tropical. which included the song "Glacier”, used in the 2014 Spanish Christmas Lottery advertising campaign.
In 2015, he composed a film score for the short, "Martha", directed by Sam Benenati. His cover of the Chris Isaak song "Wicked Game" was used in the first official full-length trailer for the sixth season of the HBO hit series Game of Thrones. In April 2016, he was featured on the promotional single "I'm in Love" from Kygo's debut album, Cloud Nine.
His new album Grapefruit Season was recently release to critical acclaim. Speaking after the launch of the album McMorrow said: “This last year has been a massive lesson in patience for all of us. But I don’t feel any more patient than I did before, in fact the opposite, I feel impatient. I had this album finished last year and then the world stopped, and I had to stop.
“I don’t know if any of this makes any sense - but ‘Grapefruit Season’ is about embracing the idea that nothing makes sense. None of it is supposed to be linear. Music isn't some holy grail to a greater meaning - it's supposed to remove you from where you are for a moment and take you somewhere else”.
Neil Dolan of Dolans Presents says that James Vincent McMorrow’s Limerick date will be a special one for Limerick audiences.
“James embarks on a tour of the United States and Canada in early 2022 before returning to play the Limerick leg of his European tour. This long-awaiting concert at Limerick’s Milk Market will see McMorrow at his very best. This is an artist with a universal appeal. We expect a sell out gig in the Live at the Big Top venue and can’t wait to see audience reactions to this genuine Irish talent”, Dolan said.
