Cork singer/songwriter Lyra set for Limerick date in February 2020

Having just performed at Electric Picnic, she has sold-out recent headline shows in London and Dublin and supported the likes of Jess Glynne, Dermot Kennedy, and James Bay.

Now, Dolans Presents have announced that Lyra is set to play Upstairs in Dolans on February 29th 2020.

Cork singer/songwriter Lyra has made a significant impact on the music scene over recent years with her unique blend of dark electronic pop.

Heavily influenced growing up by the likes of Kate Bush, Lykke Li, and Bat for Lashes, you can clearly hear this in her music. A mix of vintage combined with more contemporary music makes for a truly different style, which crosses multiple eras, but makes them work together.

Her creativity comes across in songs, stories and art which all form part of her sound and style.

Lyra’s first EP ‘W.I.L.D.’ was produced by Rupert Christie, who also worked with the likes of Kate Bush, Coldplay, and Aurora. The EP received critical acclaim and built up over one million streams on Spotify.

It was thanks to ‘W.I.L.D.’ that there led on a string of sold-out shows across Ireland and London, as well as appearances at festivals such as; The Great Escape, Music Cork, Latitude, and Electric Picnic.

Lyra also appeared on the 30th Anniversary rework of U2’s ‘The Joshua Tree – New Roots’ alongside Irish heavyweights; Kodaline, Gavin James, U2, and Imelda May which shot to number 1 in the Irish Charts.

Over the last year and since her first EP release, Lyra has been working with the likes of Phil Cook (Ellie Goulding), Carey Willets (Dermot Kennedy), and Braque (Rag N’ Bone Man, Bastille), honing her sound and her style. Recently she supported Dermot Kennedy on his tour and played alongside James Bay at Live at the Marquee in Cork.

Lyra performed ‘Falling’ on Ireland’s Got Talent season finale and the single was also Eoghan McDermott’s Record of the Week and Nicky Byrne’s Single of the Week on RTE 2FM.

Her recent single entitled Mother has been described as ‘haunting and uplifting’.

The powerful song is about her own mum, who has been an invaluable support for the young singer throughout her life.

Mother is out now, and LYRA will be playing a headline show at Upstairs in Dolans on February 29th 2020.
