Dolans Presents have today announced that The Mary Wallopers have added a second date to their Limerick performances due to popular demand.
The Dundalk folk sensations will now play on Thursday, December 3rd following their sell-out gig on Wednesday.
The Mary Wallopers are breathing new life into both well known and rare ballads on the Irish music scene.
Travelling the length and breadth of the country singing & collecting songs, they exude a raw energy that could be described as the Clancy Brothers meet John Lydon.
The group are set to play a UK tour next January.
Made up of brothers Andrew and Charles Hendy, as well as Sean McKenna, the Louth ballad group have rapidly established themselves as a captivating force in Irish music – with their trademark combination of charm, irreverence, staggering talent and a fiercely DIY ethos.
Over lockdown, their live-streamed gigs from the Hendys' home in Dundalk helped them to build up a major online fanbase – following appearances on The Tommy Tiernan Show, and the Fontaines D.C.-curated Rock Against Homelessness night at the Olympia Theatre, Dublin in 2020.
The Mary Wallopers were also recently involved in Breaking the Silence – a live-streamed event from the National Concert Hall, featuring words and music in response to the legacy of Ireland's Mother and Baby Home Institutions.
Tickets for The Mary Walloper's second Limerick date are expected to sell fast. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased here
