Dolans Presents are delighted to announce the return of “Rebel Rebel” the 6-piece David Bowie tribute faithfully recreating the most popular songs from Bowie’s extensive back catalogue.
The band, who have wowed Limerick audiences over recent years, will return to Dolans Warehouse on Feb 29th 2020.
Rebel Rebel give a David Bowie Tribute that has been described by the Irish Times as sounding “uncannily like David Bowie in good form”.
The band themselves are fans and have a deep respect for the man and his music and this comes across in their performance.
The set for this show is built on Bowie's most loved and enduring songs and the band have worked hard at re- creating the sound and look of a David Bowie concert.
Lead singer Peter Quinn has always had his voice compared to Bowie’s. “I released and album of original material in 1999 and it was instantly compared to Bowie. It was something I had been told from the time I cut my first demo tape, so when I was looking for a new project a Bowie tribute was the obvious direction.”
The band members have all been working in the music industry for many years they are all accomplished and experienced musicians, which allows the band to competently take on any of the diverse and complex songs from Bowie’s back catalogue, including their Best of Bowie’s Berlin gigs for which the band have received critical acclaim.
Made up of some of the finest session musicians in the country, Rebel Rebels musicians have previously played with an array of Ireland’s top artists including; Sinead O’Connor, Clannad, Gavin Friday, Jack L, Brian Kennedy, Lesley Garrett, The Irish Tenors, The RTE Concert Orchestra, Brian Downey and Eric Bell & Brian Downey(Thin Lizzy).
The band have played at the first ever Bowie Symposium at UL and have played as far afield as New Zealand, receiving rave reviews for their shows and how similar their lead singers voice is to that of David Bowie’s.
They have frequently been as not just the best Bowie tribute, but the best tribute band in Ireland.
Bowie guitarist & musical director Gerry Leonard stated after his appearance with the band at Dublin Bowie Festival 2016 that it was 'the closest thing to playing with Bowie I’ve experienced'.
